If you're a beginner, and will need a beginner's belay lesson at Joe Rockhead's for the April Club Climbing and Beginners' Night, sign up here!

What

Beginners' belay lessons are required if you're new to climbing and have never belayed before, or if it's been a while and a refresher would be a good thing! Joe Rockhead's keeps track of who is registered to belay at their facility and who is not. If you're not registered to belay there, then it's a good idea to sign up for the belay lessons, unless you're an experienced climber / belayer (see For Experienced Climbers / Belayers below in that case). You can do that here by clicking the "Sign up" button below.

By When

Please note that we will be letting the gym know how many beginners we have early on Thursday, so make sure you've registered by end-of-day Wednesday.

How

You don't have to be a registered member of Crag Crux Climbers to sign-up for this event. If you are a member, log in, and then click on the "Sign-up for Beginners' Belay Lessons" below. Otherwise, just click on the "Sign-up for Beginners' Belay Lessons" below, and provide your name, eMail address (so we can let you know of any last-minute changes that might occur), and a phone number if you wish. You can contact info@crag.ca for more information if you need it. After signing up, we urge you to read Safety at the Gyms.

How Much

The cost of an introductory lesson and all the climbing you want Thursday night is $35 per person. The price includes all equipment, instruction, and even GST!

What to bring

Bring:

  • cash, credit card, or debit card to pay for the evening,
  • loose-fitting (i.e., allows movement) longer (i.e., knee-length) shorts,
  • a t-shirt or other top that will let you move freely,
  • socks for inside the rental climbing shoes, and
  • a lock if you want to lock things in the (small) lockers available at Joe Rockhead's.

There are shower facilities at Joe Rockhead's as well, so if you feel it's appropriate, bring a towel and whatever else you may need.

For Experienced Climbers / Belayers

For experienced belayers who've just not been to Joe Rockhead's before, please sign up for the Belay Test Only. You'll need to just have a belay test as opposed to go through the whole lesson. We'll nonetheless need to give Joe Rockhead's a "heads-up" as to how many belay-test-only people we might have.

Location:

Joe Rockhead's, 29 Fraser Avenue Toronto, Ontario M6K 1Y7. Tel: 416-538-7670.
