If you're a registered user of the site, yes, you can upload picture files and show them in galleries you create.

Once logged in, you can create any number of galleries by choosing from the side menu Your Galleries | New personal gallery. Then, you can upload picture files and associate them to the galleries you've created by choosing Your Galleries | New photos. By making a gallery a "Featured" gallery, the photos in it will show up in the "Featured Photo" area of the website.

No you don't. We're an inclusive group that is just as happy to climb with anyone as we are with LGBT-identified folks. That said, you should not have any issues with people who do identify as any of lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, trans-gendered, queer, two-spirited, and the like if you wish to join us.

You do not need to know how to climb to join Crag Crux Climbers. You just need to be interested in climbing... well, at least, that helps.

The best way to get into climbing and learn is to come out to one of our Beginners' nights. In so doing, you will take a beginner lesson at one of the local gyms so that you can safely learn the basics of tying a figure-eight knot and using a gri-gri belay device. Those two basics are all that’s required, and with them you will be permitted to climb at any of the Toronto gyms.

All that said, though, you can join the website at any time. That way, you can keep up-to-date on all the club events, and come out to the ones in which you're interested.

There are currently no costs associated with membership in the club itself. The gyms have varying fee structures, which can be found on their websites (click on the Links menu item for links) for likely the most up-to-date cost information. We also have a comparison across the gyms here, although it is possible that some of that information is out-of-date (we do try to keep it current).

The three pieces of equipment you’ll need to start are shoes, harness and chalk bag. All of the Toronto gyms rent equipment, although the rental costs are high enough that buying your own gear is recommended if you’ll be climbing on an ongoing basis. Climbing shoes start at around $80 and harnesses start at around $40. Chalk bags are around $20, and a chalk ball is around $5. See the Links page for shopping links.

We climb frequently (but irregularly) at Joe Rockhead’s, Rock Oasis, and TCA climbing gyms in Toronto. If you want to come along, just drop a line or call. Even better, join Crag Crux Climbers and stay up to date! There is a forum on this site where members can post ad-hoc climbing notices, and an events calendar for more organised events.

Well, there’s this secret handshake... O-kay, not really.

Monthly we host a combined Club Climbing and Beginners' Night at one of the local climbing gyms. The event is posted on our event calendar, and we like to know how many people might be showing up, so if you're a registered member, please sign-up, and if you're not a registered member, hey, register, and then please sign-up! In addition ad-hoc climbing get-togethers can be posted in the forum, providing an opportunity to find climbing partners. Finally, more significant events like trips and social events will also be posted on our events calendar, so keep an eye out for those too!

Yes we do, locally in the Milton area, the Collingwood area, and at Lion’s Head on the Bruce Peninsula. At Easter and Thanksgiving, there’s generally a trip down to the Red River Gorge in Kentucky. Members of the club also climb at Bon Echo, which is roughly a three and a half hour drive north-east of Toronto.

There are no girls in the group who are actively climbing. Not the kind with two X chromosomes anyway. Well, there’s Hoi-en, but she likes boys. We miss Alison terribly, but she’s too busy earning her PhD to come out and play, and we haven’t heard from Christine for a while.

That said, girls are more than welcome, and if you’re a girl, and you come out and climb, we’ll get to change this to a "yes", and then more and more girls will come out and play...
