Climbing Parter/Friends

I'll be happy to climb with you and introduce you to some gay climbers through climbing.

We used to have monthly climbing nights in different gyms, sometimes with descent turnout, sometimes with no show. The latter scenario happened too often to motivate volunteers to host such nights continuously.

Also, most of the regular climbers have paid memberships in their favourite gyms, and are not enthusiastic to spend more money climbing in a different gym for such climbing events, which often turned out to be climbing with 1 or 2 newbies who just wanted to check the group out and never to be seen again.

Many of the gay climbers I know climb more often with their straight climbing friends, thanks to the "normalization" progress happened in Canada. The need to climb with other gay climbers is still sometimes there, but not often.

Maybe we can use this forum to organize climbing events on as needed basis.

For many years I thought about the idea of climbing outdoors on Gay Pride Parade Day. if there are enough interest, we can bring the rainbow colour and our rainbow friends to a cliff on July 3rd this year.

Anyway, would you like to schedule with me to get started climbing in a gym, right here? Maybe other members will join in the scheduling and climbing as well.

Time: What about this weekend (Sat 9th or Sun 10th)?

Place: I was looking at the gyms and they are fairy similar in price with Rockheads and True North Climbing on the high end ($17/day), Boulderz on the low end ($15/day), and Rock Oasis and TCA in between. I have my own shoes and harness, I don't mind meeting at any gym, and I would probably buy the 10 pass. What is your preference of gym, or which gym do you usually climb at?

Time: Sat. 9th or Sun 10th. -- Can we can firm it by Wednesday? If one of the days are nice, I'll need to climb outdoor with 2 friends to prepare them for taking an outdoor sport lead course in May. You can choose the hours for our climbing day in the gym.

Place: TCA. -- TCA's price includes HST, so it is a good price. Plus I climb there most often.

I'm ok with either day also. But if you guys don't have a preference either then I vote for sunday @ 2:00.

If we get enough people going, I can call it a Crag Crux Climbers event at TCA which gives $2 discount to attendants to our event.

I'll meet you guys at the ckecking in area at 2pm. I'll know if we can get the discount. I just emailed the owner a few hours ago. When you see a short Chinese guy with some grey hair and a pair of glasses in a white T-shirt with the CCC logo at the cheching in area, you can assume that is me.
