Pride Day Climb
I submitted this event to the Affiliate Events of Pride Toronto yesterday, and received the receipt of the registration fee ($100+hst=$113) they charged for our registration today. They will promote our event through their marketing machine.
Our event will be listed as:
Outdoor Rock Climbing -- Vertical Pride
So far, Dean and Phil have registered for this event and emailed me $60 registration fee each.
I fancy having a rainbow painted on my back when I climb on July 3rd. Anyone can paint it for me?

Carpool and VIP Passes.
Now we've got 5 people coming. I guess that Dean and Phil will come in one car. Anthony and I can come in one car. Peter can either join one of our cars or drive there. FYI, I have a family membership with the park. Everyone in my car can get in for free. :)
Let's meet at the Lower Parking Lot of Rattlesnake Point at 9:30am. You can ask the gate attendant for the directions to the Lower Parking Lot when you pay the admission fee of $6.25 at the gate.
Pride Toronto has allowed us 2 VIP passes which are good for the VIP area at the south stage and the wellesley stage. Since I will be teaching climbing on Friday and Saturday, I will have no use of them. Anyone of you who have registered for this event can use them. They need to be picked up at
Pride Toronto
14 Dundonald Street
Toronto, Ontario M4Y 1K2
Tel: 416 927 7433
Before you go to pick them up, you need to email affiliate_events@pridetoronto.com first, so that Nichole Jardine & Lucas Beaver, (mobile) 647-966-8350, Coordinators of Affiliate Events, will put the passes aside for you. Once you have emailed them, please post a note here, so no one else will do the same. Thanks!
Happy Pride Week!
Great Day
Have to say this was a great day - Great climbing !!! ... Good to get outdoors ..
I love your "Navy" pose,
I love your "Navy" pose, Dean! It re-ignited my fascination with Navy. :)
Navy Pose?
Not sure what the "Navy" pose is, although I can hazard a guess, but it must have been good because I got a picture of ALL the poses! And all the photos looked great. Plus the climbing and comradery was excellent. We should definitely have a repeat performance before the summer is gone.
An afternoon and evening
An afternoon and evening session in the shady section of the East Cliff at Rattlesnake Point is doable on a scorching summer day. I have spent a lot of days under a baking sun on cliffs in the past month and I would like to limit future days like that for my teaching days.
Perhaps we should just go as friends, in stead of as in an event, to avoid insurance issues.
The best days for me would be on a day when I am teaching a beginner's course and finishes my course at 4:30 or 5:30pm. I can set up a spare rope for you guys at 1pm-ish. After my class, I can set up more ropes for us to climb till 9pm.
Is there a social drink this Friday evening?
Climbing as/with friends
Climbing as/with friends sounds great! As for drinking, I am not aware of it. If I were, I would not have make plans for Friday.
