Years ago I fancied the idea of having a gay climbing event on the cliff to celebrate gay pride on the parade day, instead of perching on a sidewalk watching the parade.

I couldn't go forward with that idea mainly because I didn't want to organize a club event without insurance coverage. Last year I did lead a several outdoor climbing event through ACC with an invitation to CCC. This year it becomes possible for CCC to have an independent outdoor climbing event.

My outdoor rock climbing instruction company Zen Climb will provide insurance coverage for this event for free!

I see this event to include experienced outdoor climbers, gym climbers who have not climbed outdoors, and people who have never climbed. I would like to list it as an affiliated event of the Pride Week, so it will be included in the Official Pride Guide calendar of events, website, social media, press releases and its annual media VIP launch. This will reach a wide audience.

To become an affiliated event, we need to pay the Pride a $100+HST registration fee. To cover this expense, participants should pay us a registration fee to participate in this event. I suggest that each participant pays $30 for the event, plus $30 for the club membership fee, with the total of $60 per person.

Any surplus money generated from this event will be used in two areas: 1) pay back the web hosting fees and domain registration fees individual club members have paid form their own pockets over the past many years. 2) Use this money to incorporate the club so it can obtain funding and its own insurance coverage in future.

For people who don't have their harness or helmet, they can rent them from Zen Climb for $5 each. Helmet will be mandatory in compliance with the insurance.

If I receive commitment from 2 people from this forum to attend this event, by May 15th, I will go ahead to register with the Pride.

Ken Allen has declined to accept money for the domain renewal and web hosting he has paid so far. Those are his donation to our group! Thank you, Ken!!

I'll pass on the $187 to Anthony.

I have made two dvds of the photos I took. They are basically photos of Phil and Anthony climbing and the quality isn't good in those zoomed in pictures. Can't wait to see the high quality pictures from Anthony's camera.

Phil is hoping to use some of these pictures to promote the club. Maybe we can get together for a drink to exchange pictures and promotional ideas.

I only want to manage the money if it is a stash under your bed kind of amount and style. I don't want to be handling bank accounts, interest, tax related stuff or paper work... I am happy to be transparent by making a forum topic about the group funds and posting changes.

Anthony

$187 passed on to Anthony tonight at O'Grady's in front of Dean, Peter, Phil and Stewart.

No interest will be calculated. No account will be set up. Thanks, Anthony!

Coming in the fall, Anthony will pay Ken Allen the amount to renew our domain name.

Ken Allen has declined to accept money to compensate his past payment of the domain renewal, and has graciously accepted a free membership from Pride 2011 to Pride 2012. Thank you, Ken!
