So this story started about ten years ago. I was hanging out at "the steps" (the Second Cup at C & W) in the village enjoying the view when I happened upon a copy of FAB. I'd never seen it before so I picked it up and had a read through. About halfway, I stumbled upon the "sports section" that listed all the Gay sporting leagues in the city. I was shocked. I had had no idea there were gay sports in Toronto.

As I read down the list a couple of things caught my eye. The Toronto Gay Hockey Association (T.G.H.A.), and this thing called Crag Crux Climbers. I decided to look into both groups and see what was what. The page Roger saw in Fab, Issue No. 77, 27 Dec. 1997The page Roger saw in Fab, Issue No. 77, 27 Dec. 1997

I spoke to this fellow by the name of Xiaoping who assured me that climbing was both safe and fun. He said he had all the gear I required and that I should come out and give it a go. My next call was to the hockey league. I had played for years and thought it'd be fun to get back into. I got so wrapped up in hockey for the next ten years I completely forgot about Crag Crux and Climbing.

Flash forward 10 years. I find myself at the Toronto Climbing Academy after my partner and his cousin had taken an interest. About a month after I started, I'm climbing one evening and this chap comes up and enquired if I would mind giving him a belay as his partner had not yet shown up. He introduced himself as Xiaoping. Bells went off, and suddenly I had come full circle . . . the world works in mysterious ways sometimes.

That's my story of how I finally came to find myself involved with Crag Crux Climbers. It took me a few years, but I finally got here!

Thanks Xiaoping!

Roger

Not since Last Year. It got tedious, hour drive to York. 1/2 hour to change, half hour game . . . . whoops *gets thrown out of game* 15mins to change/shower hour drive home . . . I just didn't see the value any longer. Still, if the league ever moved downtownish I'd reconsider. lol
